This itinerary can be made upon your desired interests, but here is a detailed program that covers key highlights, such as gorilla trekking, Chimpanzee tracking, Wildlife safaris, and Cultural experiences.

14 days Rwanda - Uganda Safari

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the hotel in Kigali. Overnight at Five to five Hotel  (bed and breakfast)

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest NP and afternoon canopy walk

In the morning, you will set off for Nyungwe Forest NP, reaching in the early afternoon for a canopy walk to have an aerial view of the forest. Overnight at Chimpanzee lodge Nyungwe (budget)/ Emeraude Kivu Resort (deluxe)

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking

In the morning, you will set off to the park headquarters for briefing and proceed to Uwinka forest for chimpanzee tracking adventure. Once you catch a glimpse of them, you will be allowed a maximum of 1hr to observe them and take photos before returning to the hotel for lunch. You will spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at your hotel. Dinner and overnight (Day 2).

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes national park (about 5-6hrs drive)

Early morning, you will set off a relaxed drive to Volcanoes national park with stop overs for photography and sightseeing. A brief stop in Butare town will give you an opportunity to visit the Butare museum of natural history and learn about the history of the country. Proceed to reach Volcanoes national park in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Davinci Gorilla lodge/ Gorilla Solution lodge (deluxe)/ Muhabura hotel (budget)

Day 5: Bisoke hike

In the morning, assemble at the park headquarters for briefing and proceed to hike Mt. Bisoke up to the crater lake on top. On return, you will transfer back to the hotel/ lodge for lunch and relaxation. Overnight at day 4

Day 6: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Bwindi NP. (3-4 hour’s drive)

In the morning, assemble at the park headquarters for briefing from the park rangers. Proceed for golden monkey tracking. On return, you will cross over to Uganda and drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park, home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight at Trekkers' Tavern lodge (budget)/ Bakiga lodge (deluxe).

Day 7: Gorilla Tracking.

In the morning, you will gather at the park headquarters for briefing, and go straight into the forest to search for the gentle giants. You will be allowed one hour to stay in the presence of the gorillas, as you observe and take photographs. Dinner and overnight at your lodge (day 6).

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. (5-7hrs drive)

In the morning, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth NP with en route game viewing in Ishasha for the tree climbing lions and proceed to Mweya section for lunch and later take an afternoon game drive. Return to check in at your lodge. Overnight at Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge (Budget) Enganzi lodge/ Buffalo Lodge (Deluxe) Park view safari Lodge/ Katara Lodge (Luxury).

 

Day 9: Game drive and afternoon boat cruise

In the morning, take a cup of coffee and set off to Kasenyi plains for a game drive anticipating to see a variety of wildlife species including big cats and the great herders alongside other many species. You will later return for a late breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel for more wildlife viewing, not missing on the hippo schools and crocodiles as well as a number of bird species. Overnight as above.

Day 10: Short Game drive and transfer to Kibale NP. (2-3hrs drive)

In the morning exit the park with a short game drive and transfer to Kibale NP. Visit the top of the world for sightseeing and later take a nature walk to the Bigodi wetland for primate and bird viewing. Dinner and Overnight at Chimpundu Lodge (Luxury) Turaco Tree tops (deluxe)/ Chimpanzee Forest lodge (budget)

Day 11: Transfer to Murchison Falls NP. (7-8 hour’s drive)

In the morning after breakfast, you will set off to Murchison Falls National Park via Masindi reaching late in the evening. Visit the top of the falls for sightseeing and proceed to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Red-chili Safari Lodge (Budget) Pakuba safari lodge (Deluxe) and Paara safari Lodge (Luxury).

Day 12: Game drive and boat cruise.

In the morning, you will go for a morning game drive in the northern section of the park for an opportunity to see a plethora of wildlife species including several antelope species along several carnivores like lions and hyenas. Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, go for boat cruise up to the bottom of the falls, which will reward you with views of wildlife like hippos, crocodiles, among others. Dinner and overnight (Day 12).

Day 13: Murchison Falls NP to Kampala. (5-6 hour’s drive)

In the morning, set off to Kampala with en route visit to the top of the falls and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongora, for rhino tracking. Proceed to Kampala, reaching in the evening for drop off at your hotel. Overnight at Savanna suites (budget)/ 2 Friends hotel (deluxe). (Bed and breakfast)

Day 14: Transfer to the airport for departure.
