The 18-days Uganda safari gives you an incredible opportunity to explore the diverse landscapes that the country has to offer in terms of both wildlife, and cultures.
This ranges from savannahs and wetlands to dense rain forests, Uganda offers a wide range of experiences, including the chance to see the famous mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
This safari entails’ some of the major National Park in Uganda which includes Murchison falls National Park, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth NP, Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park and Lake Mburo National.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1; Arrival at Entebbe International Airport,
Upon arrival you will be received by a company representative driver/guide at the Airport. Depending on your arrival time, the transfer to your lodge/ hotel for checking in for dinner and overnight Serena Hotel Kampala/ Protea Hotel by Mariotte Entebbe (Luxury) Hotel Africana / Lake Victoria hotel (Deluxe) Savana suites/papyrus guest house (Budget).
Day 2; Visit to Mabamba wetland and afternoon relaxation.
Today wakeup early in the morning for a cup of coffee and later transfer to Mabamba wetland for Shoebill tracking. Here you will have an immense opportunity to see a variety of birds in the wetlands and other plants species as you take photos for a lifetime. Later transfer back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation with dinner and overnight stay as on Day 1.
Day 3; Drive to Murchison Falls National Park.
After a cup of tea/coffee, drive to Murchison falls National park-Uganda’s biggest Park which is over 5000sqkm. Traverse through Luwero Triangle with a visit Nakasongola Rhino farm and have a view of the rhinos. Have lunch in Masindi town and proceed to the park in time to enjoy the spectacular view to the top of the falls where the Nile plunges through a 9 meters wide gorge forming a thunderous roar and rainbow in a plume of the spray. Day 4; Half day Game Drive and afternoon Boat cruise along the Nile.
Today wakeup early in the morning for a hearty breakfast and then drive to the park for the wild Game drive in the broad savannah for the most likelihood big cats hunting, Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, plus more as the checklist of mammals reaches 76 we continue with the Drive circuits to the Delta point for a cocktail of Birds and mammals. If you are a keen birder this might be your chance to catch them later return to the lodge for lunch while waiting for an afternoon boat cruise-this will especially take between 2 -3 hours depending Boat ride to the base of Falls where you get to see the Hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants and a variety of beautiful bird species along the falls and Elephants quenching their thirst for the afternoon. For dinner and overnight as above on day 3.
Day 5; Game drive in Murchison falls
After breakfast, have time to yourselves, after lunch you will cross to the northern side for another game drive in the evening. This will give you a chance to see some of the animals that are not early risers. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 6; Murchison Falls-Kibale National Park.
Morning breakfast, check out of the park and drive along lake Albert to the escarpment area for a great view of the great rift valley, continue to Hoima town for lunch break, then after continue with the drive through the small towns of kagadi and Mabale with great views the local community, thatched houses, school kids and finally to Kyenjojo town. Drive 55km to Fort portal town and continue through the tea plantations for your evening. Day 7; Chimp trekking in Kibale forest national park.
After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu for briefing before you proceed to track man's closest relative of all the apes. After tracking, return to the lodge for lunch and have the rest ofthe day at leisure. You may talk to your guide for a tour in Fort portal town. Overnight as above.
Day 8; Bigodi nature swamp walk.
After breakfast, head for a swamp walk in Bigodi, Expect loads of monkeys, birds i.e.; the famous green breasted pitta and lots tree species. Return for lunch at your hotel. Evening relaxation. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 9; Kibaale - Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Depart to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will pass through the crater Valley with beautiful lakes and rich grasslands which are set deep. This is truly the most magnificent scenery in the park. Queen Elizabeth hosts a large variety and volume of wildlife. It boasts one of the highest bio diversity ranging from the open Savannah to Rain -forest, dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward. After checking in and having lunch, you will head for an evening game drive. We often spot Elephants, warthogs, waterbucks, hippos and others. You might want to head to the Kasenyi area of the park where lions are frequently spotted. Day 10; Game drive and Launch cruise along the kazinga channel,
Take a cup of coffee and go for an early morning game drive in this park, provide excellent opportunities to see Lions, Cape Buffaloes, Giant Forest Hogs, Leopards, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topi and Bush bucks and many more.
After lunch, enjoy the unique 2-hour launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing, ideal for the Uganda safari. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species. Dinner and overnight as above on day 9.
Day 11; Full day Game viewing
After breakfast, you will have a second game drive. This will give chace to see more animals that you didn’t see previously. You will have lunch at any spot in the park. Enjoy your game view till evening, return to your lodge for overnight and dinner; Katara lodge (Mid-range), Simba safari camp (budget) (FB)
Day 12: Lake Katwe salt mining area- transfer Bwindi Impenetrable Park
Early breakfast, Continue to lake katwe tourism center for a traditional salt mining experience and a visit to lake Munyanyange for great chance of flamingos. Check out and continue to Bwindi through the Ishasha plains with chances of seeing the tree climbing lions on the way. Lunch at Savannah Resort Hotel, continue to Bwindi and check into Gorilla safari lodge (Midrange), Buhoma Community camp (Budget)
Day 13: Gorilla Tracking Experience.
You will rise relatively early for a jovial breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking. Report to the ranger station at 08.00 am where the guides will take you through the forest, slashing at the undergrowth, panting thick creepers, to track gorillas. This trek can take from half an hour to five hours therefore a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes.
You sit in the forest among the gorillas listening to them grumble at each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the silverback. It is amazing to think that there are only 650 or so of these creatures left in the world! If you have the afternoon free, you will take a guided village amongst the locals. Day 14; Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park, drive through the game trails with great chances of seeing zebras, Elands, Topi's, waterbucks, and lots of impalas. Lunch break and head to your hotel for relaxation. Overnight and dinner at Mihingo Lodge (Luxury) Arcadia cottages (Midrange), Rwonyo rest camp (budget)
Day 15; Boat canoeing;
After breakfast, you will have this morning to yourselves then after lunch get ready for a coning experience on Lake Mburo, overnight as above.
Day 16; Drive to Entebbe through Kampala
Early Morning Nature walk, return for breakfast, check out of the park and drive back to Entebbe through Kampala. Check in to your hotel. (Aderita Beach Hotel)
Day 17; Beach view and relaxing;
After a number of days in the wilderness… you will relax and enjoy the Lake Victoria breeze. Overnight (Aderita Bach Hotel)
Day 18; Reserved for departure or an extension.
