Cross trekking with mountain gorillas off your bucket list when you plan a trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Gorillas aren’t the only draw here, though most visitors to the park don’t miss the one-in-a-lifetime chance to track a family of silverbacks through the thick Ugandan forest.
Uganda’s number one draw for travellers is the rare silverback mountain gorilla. The gorilla can only be found in two places in the world, and on of them is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. During your gorilla trekking experience you will follow a family of gorillas through the dense forest to observe their daily activities in their natural habitat. Your trek could have you witnessing a feeding frenzy or observing family grooming from just 5 meters away.
When you are not deep in the forest having the experience of a lifetime, you can visit local Batwa communities or check out the renowned conservation efforts of the Conservation Through Public Health CTPH) organization with National Geographic explorer and veterinarian Gladys Kalema - Zikusoka to learn more about the efforts that have lead to the growth of the once-fading gorilla population.
Coffee lovers will delight in visiting Bwindi to see the washing station of one of Uganda’s most popular single-origin coffees, Gorilla Conservation Coffee.
